Privacy notice
This site sets no cookies, loads nothing from third-party servers, and runs no advertising or behavioral trackers. That is a design decision, not a compliance afterthought.
Who is responsible

What this site does not do
- No cookies. None are set, so there is no consent banner and nothing to opt out of.
- No third-party requests. Fonts are self-hosted. There are no CDN scripts, embedded videos, social widgets, chat bubbles or map iframes.
- No advertising or behavioral tracking. No remarketing pixels, no cross-site identifiers, no profiling.
- No account, no login, no user data store.
Server logs
Our hosting provider records standard web-server access logs: IP address, timestamp, requested URL, referrer, user agent and response status. This is technically necessary to serve the site and to detect abuse, and it happens for every website you visit.
Legal basis: legitimate interest in operating and securing the site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Logs are retained by the hosting provider for a short period and are not combined with any other data or used to identify individuals.
Analytics
We count page views on our own server. It is a tally, not a tracker, and the difference is worth spelling out because most sites claiming to be "privacy-friendly" still identify you.
What is stored. One row per day, per page, holding a count.
Alongside it: the name of the event (a page view, or that someone copied a
calculator result), the host a visitor arrived from — google.com,
not the full search URL — a two-letter country code where our host provides one,
and the page language.
What is not stored. No cookie and no local storage. No identifier of any kind. No IP address — not hashed, not truncated, not "anonymised", simply not written down. No user agent, screen size or anything else that could be assembled into a fingerprint. No session, so there is no way to connect two page views to the same person.
Because nothing is stored on your device and no personal data is processed, this requires no consent under GDPR or the ePrivacy Directive, and there is no banner to dismiss. The honest cost of that design is that we cannot report unique visitors — that figure cannot be produced without identifying someone, so we do without it.
Legal basis for the aggregate counts, to the extent any of it were considered personal data: legitimate interest in understanding which of our published work is useful (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Counts are kept in monthly files and are not combined with server logs or with anything else.
When you contact us
The contact form collects your name, email address and your message. There is one optional field asking how you came across us, which you can leave empty — it exists because we genuinely cannot tell from our own statistics, and we would rather ask you than track you. Nothing else is requested.
The form runs on our own hosting rather than a third-party form service, so your enquiry does not pass through an external processor. To limit automated abuse the handler records the submitting IP address alongside the message, and keeps a short-lived hashed record of recent submissions for rate limiting.
Legal basis: taking steps at your request prior to entering a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), and legitimate interest in preventing abuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
We keep correspondence for as long as it is commercially relevant, and delete it on request. Enquiries that do not lead to a project are deleted within twelve months.
Technical and design information you send us
Schematics, layouts, specifications and other material you send as part of an enquiry are treated as confidential. They are not shared, not used as examples, and not published. We are happy to sign your NDA before you send anything, and we would rather you asked for one than assumed.
Where data goes
Hosting and email are within the EU. No personal data is transferred outside the EEA in the ordinary operation of this site.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may request:
- access to the personal data we hold about you
- correction of inaccurate data
- erasure of your data
- restriction of processing
- a copy of your data in a portable format
- objection to processing based on legitimate interest
Email contact@arcaneembedded.com and we will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Romanian supervisory authority, ANSPDCP.
Changes
If this notice changes materially we will update it here. Because there is no mailing list and no accounts, there is nobody to notify.
